Chain Style Bracelets - How To Measure For The Perfect Fit

Finding The Right Size for a Link or Chain Style Bracelet (for Men, Women & Children)

Bracelets are a popular accessory that can complement any outfit and add a touch of elegance to your style. However, finding the correct size of a bracelet can be challenging, especially if you are shopping online. If the bracelet is too big, it can slip off your wrist, and if it's too small, it can be uncomfortable to wear. Here are some tips to help you find the correct size when purchasing a chain style bracelet that closes with a clasp.

1. Measure Your Wrist

The first step in finding the correct bracelet size is to measure your wrist where you would normally wear your bracelet. You can do this with a flexible measuring tape or a piece of string. Wrap the measuring tape or string around your wrist, just below the wrist bone. Make sure that the tape or string is snug but not too tight. If you're using a string, mark the spot where the string overlaps, and then measure the length of the string with a ruler.

2. Get an accurate wrist measurement.

If you're using a string, mark the spot where the string overlaps, and then measure the length of the string with a ruler. This is your wrist size/circumference.
PLEASE NOTE: your wrist measurement and your bracelet size are two different measurements. Continue to read to find out how to use your wrist circumference measurement to determine a bracelet size.

3. Add Extra Length

Once you have your wrist measurement, you have to add some extra length to determine your BRACELET size. A good rule of thumb is to add between 1/2 inch to 1 inch to your wrist measurement. This extra length will ensure that your bracelet fits comfortably and doesn't feel too tight.

  • For a snug fit, add 1/2 inch
  • For a comfort fit, add 3/4 inch to 1 inch
  • For a loose fit, add 1 1/4 inches

So for example my wrist measures 6 inches in circumference. I like my bracelets to fit on the snug side. so if I were searching online for a chain bracelet I would look for one that measures 6.5 inches. 6.5 inches would be the length of the bracelet minus any clasp overlap (the spot where the two side of the closure connect and do not add length to the bracelet.)

Here are some basic guidelines to men's, women's and children's bracelet sizes. Please note these are approximate measurements. It is always best to get an accurate measurement especially if you are buying personalized or custom pieces that cannot be returned.

    Children's Bracelet Lengths
    2-5 years: 5-1/2 inches
    6-8 years: 6 inches
    9-13 years: 6-1/2 inches

    Women's Bracelet Lengths

    Medium: 7-1/2 inches - 8 inches

    Men's Bracelet Lengths
